Working from home? If so, you’re not alone if you’re rocking your pajamas. There has actually been a huge spike in “luxury” pajama sets over the last year because so many of us are spending our time cozied up at home while we work.
When you’re spending so much time in them though, organic cotton pajamas may be the best option. We’ve rounded up some of our absolute favorites, and we’d love to share them with you!

Why Choose Organic Cotton Pajamas
First, let’s talk a little bit about why you’d want to choose organic cotton pajamas in the first place.
They’re better for our health. Cotton is one of the most heavily treated crops on the planet, and all of those pesticides and insecticides can make their way into our clothes and pajamas. With increased exposure over a long period of time, certain ingredients in those pesticides (like glyphosate) can create issues with the liver and kidneys, and it’s also linked to obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cancer.
Conventional cotton manufacturing often adds a variety of harsh chemicals to clothing too, including formaldehyde (which can cause breathing issues and skin irritation), chlorine & dioxins (which can cause issues with the reproductive and endocrine systems, and may cause cancer as well), and phthalates (which are a known endocrine disruptor).
They’re better for the environment. Organic cotton uses less water than conventional cotton, and since organic cotton farmers don’t use as many pesticides, there is reduced runoff of these harmful chemicals that can leach into the soil of surrounding areas.
The Best Organic Cotton Pajamas
Now that you know why you should buy organic cotton pajamas (and other clothing), let’s dive into our list of favorite brands!
Hanna Andersson
Hanna Andersson’s clothing is very high quality and seems to last forever. While not all of their clothing is made with organic cotton, they have a great line of organic cotton pajamas for the entire family, and you can choose from a variety of beautiful and fun prints. They even have matching family pajamas for each season!
Burt’s Bees
Burt’s Bees pajamas are made with 100% organic cotton that’s GOTS-certified. This means that they’ve met or exceeded the GOTS standards (which you can learn more about here), and their manufacturing process is also safe and organic. They sell classic and seasonal pajamas for babies, and during certain times of the year (around the holidays), they also offer adult and kids pajamas.
Speaking of the holidays, you may want to check out these sustainable stocking stuffers too!
We love that this brand is so affordable with the same high-quality materials that you’d expect from higher end brands. You can even purchase them at Target!
Primary
We love Primary’s simple colors and patterned kids clothes, and we can appreciate their sustainability efforts too. The styles are timeless (so you can pass them from sibling to sibling or friend to friend), and the majority of their fabrics are OEK-tex certified and manufactured in a GOTS facility.
Primary offers babies, kids, and matching family pajamas, most of which are made with 100% organic cotton.
Eileen Fisher
One of our favorite brands to rock, Eileen Fisher has a terrific line of 100% organic cotton pajamas for women (and we love their sustainable swimsuits too). They’re a little pricey, but they’re incredibly high quality and the styles are timeless, so you’ll be able to enjoy them for many (many, many) years to come.
Coyuchi
If you haven’t heard of Coyuchi, you’re really missing out. They make all of their clothing with 100% organic cotton that’s GOTS-certified and Made Safe, and they offer both men’s and women’s clothing in addition to home goods. We love their younger-looking styles and super-soft knit fabrics.
As with many of the other brands on this list, all of Coyuchi’s styles are timeless and simple, so you can enjoy them for years to come. They’re a great price too!
Hatley
If your little one loves fun prints and designs on their sleepwear, you should definitely check out Hatley’s line of 100% organic cotton pajamas.
With beautiful colors and soft, comfy fabrics, they might become a new favorite. Hatley carries pajamas for children in sizes 0-3 months through 12 years.
noctu
Based in the U.K., noctu is committed to sleepwear. In fact, that’s where they got their start (though they do sell a few other items now). Their 100% organic cotton pajamas and loungewear are all GOTS-certified, and there is a great selection of styles to choose from. (We really love the look of these harems!)
Since the pajamas are all made in and shipped from the U.K., keep in mind that you may have to pay customs fees if you live outside of England.
Made Trade
While Made Trade isn’t really a clothing brand, it’s an excellent online shop with terrific values. You can find a huge variety of organic cotton pajamas on their website, and you can trust that each brand has been vetted by Made Trade. You can even examine the brands more closely on the Made Trade website, or you can go directly to the brands’ websites to learn more about them, their material sourcing, and their company values.
You can shop based on your own values too. Choose from fair trade-certified items, artisan heritage pieces, or clothing that’s made in the USA. You can also choose brands that are women-owned, BIPOC-owned, sustainable, or vegan (or a mixture of any the above).
Mightly
Looking to support a family-owned business with a really amazing back story? Check out Mightly. The company was founded by 8-year-old Eloise and her mom, who wanted to find some kid-friendly clothing that could hold up to rough play. Eloise’s mom also wanted the clothing to be safe and sustainable.
Mightly’s GOTS-certified organic cotton pajamas for kids are also Fair Trade-certified, and they come in fun prints and colors that your kids will love. Mightly sells other kids clothing as well, and the brand is available on Amazon with prime shipping!
We hope this guide was helpful in your search for comfy organic pajamas that you can trust! Let us know if you have a favorite brand that isn’t listed above.
